Popcorn Sale Ends, Delivery to Begin

MARTINSVILLE VA – Another great year of selling popcorn has come to an end.  Thank you to those who sold, and to those of you who have put in all the extra time and energy organizing the sale, moving popcorn, and assisting the boys.

Now that the sale is finished, it is time to begin the process of delivering the popcorn to our customers.  Please remember that if you ordered Show-n-Sell popcorn and did not sell the entire order, you can use your leftover Show-n-Sell popcorn to fill take orders.  All orders are due electronically by this Friday, November 4, by 5:00PM.  If you have Show-n-Sell popcorn beyond what you need to fill your take orders, that popcorn must be returned to the First Presbyterian Church in Martinsville on Thursday, November 3, between 5PM and 7PM.

All popcorn ordered for take orders will be available for pick-up on Friday, November 18 at Warren Williams’ warehouse in Stuart.  There will be a lot of popcorn to sort into units’ orders throughout that week, from the 15th through the 18th.  If you have an evening to help sort popcorn, your help would be greatly appreciated.  If you can help, please contact our Popcorn Kernel, Barry Brockway, at brockway@sitestar.net.  Thank you in advance for your help.

After the popcorn is in, everyone will have a little over two weeks to collect all the money from their sales.  Popcorn money is due December 6.

Thank you for your participation in this year’s sale, and congratulations on another year of raising funds for your units.

Cub Scout Spookoree Nears

RIDGEWAY VA – Nearly two hundred Cub Scouts and parents will travel to Camp Lee Ford this weekend for the annual Spookoree.  Great weather is predicted, and fun for all is guaranteed.

Upcoming Dates

November 3 – Show-n-Sell popcorn leftovers must be returned to 1st Presbyterian Church, Martinsville from 5-7PM.

November 4 – Popcorn orders due electronically by 5PM

November 5,6 – Cub Scout Spookoree at Camp Lee Ford

November 10 – Roundtable and Specific Position Training

November 17 – Online re-charter training meeting 7PM at PHCC

November 18 – Popcorn pick-up in Stuart

Online Re-chartering Training

MARTINSVILLE VA – This year, all units in the Blue Ridge Mountains Council will re-charter electronically online.  There will be a training session for this new process Thursday, November 17 at 7PM at Patrick Henry Community College.  The online approach to re-chartering will be an efficient, time saving, and frustration reducing method.  However, it will be much more efficient, save more time, and certainly reduce more frustration if you attend the training session.  Thank you in advance for your participation in this process.

November Roundtable Approaches

MARTINSVILLE VA – The roundtable for the month of November will be held Thursday, November 10, at the First Presbyterian Church in Martinsville.  Roundtables are a great way to learn activities for your unit, earn Berglund Bucks, and hear the latest announcements for activities and important dates to remember.

November’s roundtable will also provide a training opportunity for those leaders who need specific position training.  If you are interested in taking specific position training, please contact Mrs. Linda Henley at 647-7179.

Leaders Celebrate as DE Leaves Town

MARTINSVILLE VA – Hundreds of Scout leaders from the Patrick Henry district took to the streets in celebration when it was announced that John Meyer would travel to Texas for Professional Development Training.  His two week absence, paired with the hope that he would return with some knowledge sparked this festivity.

When contacted, Meyer expressed excitement toward his future travels.  “I’ll be able to give examples of selfless leaders who go far out of their way to improve Scouting in our area,” Meyer said.

I’ll be gone from Nov. 5 to Nov. 18, but will still be able to check an occasional email.  Thank you all for your extensive help in my first three months in Patrick Henry.
